Aug. 29, 2016 - “An Evening Prayer for Peace” -- an Interfaith Service

  • Roman Catholic Archbishop Wilton Gregory invites our brothers and sisters from the Jewish and Muslim communities, as well as other Christian denominations and faiths, to “An Evening Prayer for Peace” to remember those martyred and persecuted for their faith.

Sept. 8, 2016 - A Special Evening on "Repairing the World:  Our Responsibility for Tolerance"

Sept. 11, 2016 - Simultaneous Bible reading over Georgia

  • Groups and individuals across Georgia will read aloud the entire Bible beginning at 3 PM until 4 PM on Sunday, Sept. 11th, with each person reading one of 88 one-hour portions.

Sept. 24, 2016 - Circle Atlanta for Hope

  • Circle Atlanta for Hope is a 24-hour event in which people will utlize I-285 as a tool to circle the entire city in prayer focusing on the issue of sexual trafficking - to enlighten the public

  • Each participant will choose an hour timeslot and circle the city via I285 on September 24, 2016 to approach God with specific points of prayer coming from the front line organizations in metro Atlanta that will be provided prior to Sept. 24th.

Sept. 28 - Nov. 6, 2016 - 40 Days for Life

  • 40 Days for Life is an opportunity to publicly pray, witness, and share the love, mercy & hope of Jesus, and humbly raise awareness and prayer for life.

  • The public prayer vigil will take place for 16 hours a day each of the 40 days across the street from 1924 Cliff Valley Way

  • People are also invited to fast and pray privately from home, if preferred, for about 5-7 minutes each day of the 40 days, using a prayer and reflection that will be provided daily.

Sept. 29 - Nov. 7, 2016 - 40 Days of Noonday Prayer for our Nation

  • Are you concerned for the future of our nation, and believe that restoration is in the hand of our Lord?   Come and pray together for our nation beginning on Thursday, Sept. 29th at noon – and bring a group or others with you.

  • Perimeter Church  (9500 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30097) will be hosting the “40 Days of Noonday Prayer for our Nation” at its beautiful Outdoor Chapel (with the bell tower by the lake) between noon and 1 PM, beginning Thursday, Sept. 29th through Monday, November 7 (except Sundays).

  • The “40 Days of Noonday Prayer for our Nation” is open to all and focused only on recalling God’s promises, repent, and pray for restoration of our nation.  It is an apolitical meeting where no names of political parties or individuals should be mentioned.

Oct. 3, 2016 - Monthly Noon Hour of Prayer at offices of Atlanta Community Ministries

  • Atlanta Community Ministries hosts an hour of prayer on the first Monday of each month that is open to the public.

March 1, 2017 - April 9, 2017 - 40 Days for Life 

  • Join hundreds of thousands of Christians globally from March 1 to April 9, in the bi-annual 40 Days for Life -- and take part locally (www.40daysforlife.com/Atlanta).  You are needed! 

  • You can participate:

    •  with just about 7 minutes of prayer from home each of the 40 days via e-mail ​ (sign up for daily ​prayer e-mail at: www.40daysforlife.com)​

    •  with the fast of your choice (ex. no cream in your coffee, giving up a favorite TV show, or however you feel God calling you to fast)

January 18-25, 2018 - International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

  • In observance of this week, the Archdiocese of Atlanta will be having an Ecumenical Vespers Service on Thursday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta 30305.  A reception will  follow in Kenny Hall.

  • The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has a history of over 100 years

Saturday, May 5, 2018 - "Day of Listening without Technology"

  • The monthly prayer focus using the city-wide prayer guide will shift to “Healing of Spiritual Wounds” in May – including the opportunity to commit to a “Day of Listening without Technology” on Saturday, May 5th, inspired and initiated by the leadership of those involved with the HR Prayer Breakfast. 

    • There is no one way to enjoy the Day of Listening s -- simply rest and discern as the Spirit leads.

    • Some ideas shared from the leadership of the HR Prayer Breakfast include:

      • Listen … Rest … Give thanks for the silence

      • Pray for someone or something in particular

      • Fast from food until noon or later as God leads

      • Write a letter to someone that you haven’t contacted in awhile

      • Specifically pray for those in HR who are facing challenges in their HR roles in staying centered on what’s most important from God’s perspective; making wise and God-honoring decisions; and sharing their faith in an increasingly hostile, political, and morally challenged workplace and world.

Every Wednesday in April and May 2018 - Drive Thru Prayer on Cleveland Avenue

  • Volunteers will continue to be needed to help with Drive Thru Prayer on Cleveland Ave. at the Lifeway Christian Bookstore (441 Cleveland Ave SW; Atlanta) on the remaining Wednesdays in April and May (two shifts each Wednesday: 7-9 AM, and 5-7 PM)  to saturate the area with prayer and counter the culture heavy with substance abuse, sex work, homelessness, poverty, and more that is often present.

Friday, May 11, 2018 - Day of Reflection for Prayer, Quiet, Rest and Worship

  • Would you enjoy a special Day of Reflection for prayer, quiet, rest, and worship sound?  In an effort, to continue “serving those who serve others” the International House of Prayer in Lawrenceville (1625 Collins Hill Rd, Lawrenceville, GA) will host a Day of Reflection  on Friday May 11th from 9 AM to 1 PM.  Click here to register.  There is no cost.
